Accept your agency. It can be difficult it can be daunting it can even be a little embarrassing. But it is the only way we can move forward.

It's no secret that the world is in a little bit of a transitional tumult at the moment and I see many of my peers pointing fingers. Assigning blame to leaders to systems to patterns to partners to everything and everyone outside of themselves. And my question to these fine folks is almost always the same. Why don't you believe you can change your world for the better? It can be very easy, and I fall victim to it all the time, to get swept up in grand narratives and broad movements that make you feel better about what's going on but ultimately do very little to move the needle in a positive direction. I hate to keep bullying BLM but maybe if they didn't embezzle millions of dollars on false pretenses I wouldn't have to. But I digress.

All the systems all the things that we see and interact with in society today was once someone's idea. Probably an idea that they were discouraged from pursuing at the time because it was too subversive or too new or too confusing or too dirty. Da Vinci had to literally break the law to dissect the cadavers that gave us masterpieces like David, not to mention a much more sophisticated idea of how the body works. Mandela had to be imprisoned to abolish apartheid! None of these things were generally supported at their time but with the benefit of hindsight we can see how necessary and impactful these people and their actions are on the course of human history. And you could be one of those people too. If you accept you incredible agency.

And not everybody needs to be a Da Vinci or a Mandela but we need you to be your best self. We need you to be acting on your agency. We need you to be doing everything in your power to make the world a little more wayvy. Maybe it's just picking up some litter on the way to work, maybe it's providing a safe place for people to after and celebrate themselves. Maybe it's sharing this post with someone who needs to act on their agency today‼️😋 you wanna make a movie? Make it. You wanna release a song? Release it. You are the only thing standing between yourself and your dreams.
