A big part of why I'm doing wayvy dayly and why wayvy exists at large is because it's crucial to keep your pilot light lit. I know a lot of young people just out of high school or even college just trying to live right. Work hard, follow the rules keep your head down and reap the rewards. But more and more these avenues are proving they are no longer practical and leaving our young people jaded and direction less. And you know how that story ends.
Most people will enter at least 2-3 major crucibles in their life. Usually during the transition from childhood to adolescence, from adolescence into adulthood, and then adulthood into mentorship. Generally (but not necessarily) the first one is the easiest. You're young, you have some sort of support, you are hopeful. They get progressively harder from that point onward. The transition from adolescence into adulthood is the hardest and the one that concerns me the most today. Most people have to endure it alone, and with absolutely no road map or direction to go off of. A lot of people opt out completely and end up in what I refer to as perennial pubescence. Nearly self sufficient but not quite enough to move on to the next stage; mentorship.
So what does any of this have to do with a pilot light? As a matter of fact what even is a pilot light? Well it's literal definition is a small constant flame that acts as an ignition source for the main burners on gas appliances. Metaphorically, however, it is our true essence. The one source from which all action all intention all good or evil stems. And it is at it's most vulnerable in people aged 16-30. Before that, generally people are insulted by family or some sort of cultural or social institution. And after that, you should know yourself well enough to protect it yourself. But within that window is the real make or break point for people's humanity. Where they are able to test their morals. Do I really believe the things I believe? Do I act like it? What am I willing to sacrifice for my morals? Some make it out with their morals, but most don't. Which is not to say people come out criminals or evil but people forsake themselves. Give up on the dreams because they're too aspirational or won't make any money. Allow other people to live their lives for them. They allow their pilot light to go out.
So please help us support those who are protecting their pilot light. Doing things the right way expressing themselves and attempting to improve themselves and society. Share a message of love and peace, give a nigga a sandwich I don't know but you'll know the opportunity when it presents itself and I hope you seize it with both hands. Until then …
