Focus on your filter. Water is the source of life on our planet. But because of this water can often times be teeming with microorganisms and entire ecosystems. These aren't always compatible with our stomach’s biome and as a result can cause illness in mild cases, death in the worst. Filtering out unwanted influences can save your life. Whether it's in water, energy or information.

Today we essentially exist in a constant stream of input and influence which only threatens to become more invasive with bleeding edge technologies like neurolinks and LLMs. There's no real way to opt out of this world and still be connected to its opportunities and amenities in a significant way, so we have to figure out a way to work within the structure. Luckily, most of these streams are regulated by personalized algorithms that can be trained to show you exactly what you want to see. But you need to know what you want to see first. Then you need to be relentless about solely seeking that out, refusing everything else outright. Existence obeys similar algorithmic laws. You get served up more of whatever you focus on. Regardless of whether you actually like it.

Energy needs to be filtered along similarly stringent lines. Humans are something like super strong signal receivers and are generally, even unconsciously, quite sensitive to shifts in energy. Gut feelings, little voice in your head, whatever you decide to call it this finely tuned machine has evolved to detect any subtle changes in the environment. The sentiment that you become like the people you spend the most time around is common, not just because they have more time to influence you but because you also absorb the their energy. You assume their ideas. And without very focused filters we can adopt identities that are diametrically opposed to who or what we believe we are.

You can make the life you want for yourself, but you need to grow it like a plant. Tend to yourself with gentle dedication, exterminate the pests that threaten your yield and take great pride in the fruits of your labour. And most importantly you already know
